The U.S. Gov. regulates biotech plants by setting regulations, policies, and guidance to help apply the new laws. They applied this policy in 1986. This policy is called the Coordinated Framework for Regulation of Biotechnology. It is designed to evaluate products made using biotechnology. The agency overseeing this is the USDA-APHIS. the EPA regulates sale and distribution of pesticides. The FDA is responsible for the labeling of plant derived food.
