Complex problem

In the sixth grade Dylan and I did our science fair project on which paper airplane design would fly the farthest. We learned about how airplanes fly and about different ways to make paper airplanes. We set up  our experiment and tested a few different planes multiple times and averaged the distances to see which plane flew the greatest distance consistently.

My Life

Everybody has priorities and has them ordered differently. Mine change throughout the year depending on if it’s wrestling season or summertime when I am working. I like to mix in some fun too. Some people make the mistake of not making time for fun and relaxing, those people are miserable. My priorities are different from my family because I am the only wrestler and I am interested in different things. I don’t have any specific order for my priorities but my top five are probably, Religion, school, work, social life, and fun.

Excuses

A pet peeve of mine is when people complain about not having money and not being able to afford to buy or do stuff when they don’t have a job. Some people are just too lazy to get a job and that drives me nuts. I can stand listening to people complain. I also hate when people spend their money on junk stuff then wonder why their stuff breaks and doesn’t work properly. They buy a piece of junk for cheap and when it breaks they buy another piece of junk instead of saving their money for something nice.

Someone to count on

My boy Dyl has been there for me in many ways from working to having a good time. We’ve spent countless hours together doing all sorts things. We talk about everything from what we did the night before to funny memories we’ve made. We help each other when we’re in sticky situations and like to have fun together. I am proud to call him my best friend.

To Care or Not to Care

Something I have a hard time caring about is reading. I have to read for a class but I have a hard time finding the motivation to do it. Reading is just not my thing. I can’t get myself to read the book so i get behind in the class and have to catch up so I can pass the quizzes we take in class. Somethings I really care about and find interesting is having fun and going to social events such as basketball games. I really enjoy taking to people, having fun, and making people laugh.

Factory Farms

Factory Farms are farms that are ran more like a factory than the average farm. They use smaller confinements to produce large amounts of livestock. The less space you take up the less money you have to spend on buildings. These farms are classified by two sizes, medium and large. Large companies that produce lots of food would like the idea of these factory farms so they can spend as little money as possible and make as much profit as possible. PETA would like to make people think that these farms harm and neglect their animals but that is not true. These animals are cared for and fed on a regular schedule so they can produce healthy and quality offspring. 98% of farms in the U.S. are family owned leaving 2% to be owned by companies.

Personal Pisons

I feel like I don’t have many personal prisons but I may have a couple. One for example is a fear of failure. I don’t want to lose. Sometimes this fear keeps me from doing something to help me win. For example I don’t take enough shots in a match if any at all for fear that I will be scored on instead of me finishing the take down. My coaches have told me that if I’m confident in my shot and hit it to the best of my ability that I won’t be stopped. Another prison I have is my lack of motivation in school. I don’t like to do homework and that holds back my potential. I usually do pretty good on tests but my grades aren’t very impressive because of my not doing the homework very well.

Gene editing

The big deal is the study of gene editing in people. Gene editing is putting in or deleting of DNA. Scientist He Jiankui is the man doing the gene editing and he is pretty excited about this. Gene editing could be used to prevent diseases in the future. Some risks are unintended effects, increased risk of cancer, and unintended results for future generations.

Milk or Nut Juice?

The article talks about regulating the use of the word “milk”, referring to the soy milk industry. The FDA regulates the use of the word. They define milk as coming from one or more healthy cows. Another naming disagreement is what to call meat grown by culturing cells. Before enforcing the name changes the FDA has to notify the companies.

Almond milk is pretty much blended up almonds with water. 9.3% of milk consumed in the US is plant based. Almond milk is the most popular. I feel as if milk needs to come from an animal but if the dictionary says it can come from a nut i guess it can. I don’t believe all white liquids should be labeled as milk because not all of it is milk.

If Life Ended at 40

If life ended at 40 I feel like I would try to have more fun with the things I do and try to appreciate the people in my life more. I would make the best of everything and everyone. I would spend as much time with my friends doing things we enjoy as often as possible. I would focus more on the fun things in life than the stressful things. I would still strive to be as successful as possible. I would try to go on some big hunts and maybe try skydiving to check a couple things off the bucket list.
